"Photography is an art of observation. It's about finding something interesting in an ordinary place..."

This collection makes me especially happy because it reflects a real passion I have for creating photographic contemporary art—it also reminds me of all the terrific places and moments I got to experience while being on a six year quest to find the extraordinary in the ordinary and present it in color.

This broad collection of images were taken in Vienna, Prague, Venice, and Lake Como just to name a few locations. Getting to spend weeks photographing nature in places like Big Bend National Park, Yellowstone, the Oregon coast, Death Valley and the Galapagos has been truly epic. However, many of my favorite images were taken from the cozy sea cottage my wife Pamela and I share at Laguna Beach, or Bella Vista our small ranch in the heart of the Texas Hill Country located on a 2,000 acre wildlife refuge.

Method?
One of the things I quickly learned when I first started fine art photography is that every beautiful scene in the world has had several great photographers take great photographs of them. I soon found that showing up at epic scenes during the best light with a great camera wasn't enough for me. I realized that If I wanted to experience real creative fulfillment as a photographer that I needed to find a way to take pictures that no one else had taken.

My preferred style is simply to find the extraordinary in ordinary things and capture it as art—I have found this invigorating. Now subjects were everywhere—hotel lobbies, antique stores and of course nature. Some of my abstract images are of Las Vegas Casino ceilings! People thought I was crazy for being on my knees with a zoom lens shooting air ducts and light fixtures while they played blackjack or baccarat.

I admit that my techniques using very powerful zooms lenses can make some of my images look generated— However, all of my images are out of camera and AI is not used in the creation of any of my images, either in part or in whole. These are images of real subjects regardless of how surreal they may look.

Am I an artist?
I don't know...I do think I am a photographer who has learned to think like an artist. My desire is to create art that people can't help looking at even if they don't know why.

Thank you very much for taking the time to look at these images!
